04/24/06 - v6.0.119
Enhancements

  • Find Capabilities - Now find exactly what you are looking for.  This feature begins to be useful when the user's password collection gets over 30 records.
     
  • Password Generator - Produces passwords that can be defined from 6 to 15 letters, numbers or a combinations of the two.
     
  • Import Select capabilities - Allows the user to select specific rows to import from another Secrets database.  This feature was suggested by a few customers because they have Secrets installed at work and home.  This gives the user the ability to import between each install.
     
  • The export capabilities - now has the option to including the password.  This can be a very dangerous feature so a message box will display informing the user if the password was included during the export.  This feature can be turned on or off.

Enhancements

  • Included the ability to export data to a tab delimited flat file or HTML format file.  This feature is available via an additional toolbar button labeled, "Export Data".  This toolbar button has three sub button, labeled HTML File, ASCII File, and Go to Export Folder.  Clicking on HTML file or ASCII File generates the selected file type on the fly.  To view the generated file click the Go to Export Folder button to go to the folder where the files can be accessed.  Neither generated file includes the password.  This would not be a smart feature to have available because it would expose all your passwords to any prying eyes.

Fixes

  • Rectified the problem where the password text box displayed the wrong data grid row when the group name combo box is selected to limit the criteria.

    To recreate the problem in version 5.1.75, take the following steps:
    Upon opening Secrets, immediately select a group name from the Group Name combo box.  Next click on the password text box to reveal password.  The password displayed will be the first record in the data grid when Secrets was first opened.  Version 5.2.82 resolves this problem.

Enhancements

  • Added First, Last and New record buttons on the toolbar for faster data grid navigation.
  • Added user defined color options for the data grid, data grid drop down and combo box.  Users asked for this one and since bug fixes were required the request was full filled early.
  • Included the UserID in the Current Row details that are displayed in the status bar when the cursor focus is on a data grid row.

Fixes

  • Resolved the error 6 (overflow) in procedure GetOption of module modSecrets.  The solution was to change the maximum shut down time from 300 to 120.  The timer control's capability does not exceed approximately 120 seconds.
  • Prior UserID and Prior Password fields were not updating when the UserID or Password fields were edited. This problem has been resolved.
  • The install was still identifying the Secrets Icon as Secrets BETA at the Windows operating system's Start|Program menu.  The menu now shows 'Secrets'.

 Major Release

  • Secrets has a totally new look!  Toolbar access features, new enhanced grid and group name.  Group names allow passwords to be organized more efficiently.  Additional features such as the ability to import version 4 data are also included.

 Fixes

  • My apologies for a major bug.  It was discovered when clicking on the Lock-Out menu that the wrong password would still allow the user access to Secret's data.  This is a major bug and I cannot apologies enough.  Along with fixing this bug I decided to take the time and energy to include a better backup feature and to include a friendly restore feature as well.  I hope this can make up for this major bug.

 Enhancements

  • A new revised Startup Option form was designed to include the ability to change the location of Secrets data files.  Many users did not like the idea of putting the data files on their hard drive and now the option to store the data to a different location is available.
  • Added a check menu feature to the Sort sub menus. 
  • Removed the password from the delete confirmation message, as many users did not like the password to be visible to prying eyes. 
  • Auto Lock-out/Shut-down time was increased from 30 to 120 seconds maximum time.

Fixes

  • Shut down notice maintains position at the bottom of the form when the form is resized.
  • Fixed the misspelled title on the Password form.
  • Updated the Updated record change reminder when a record is changed and a different record is selected from the browser grid.
    Other minor miscellaneous changes.

 Enhancements

  • Added an additional feature that everyone has suggested. Enhanced the lock-out feature by allowing the user to keep Secrets running but locking it after so many seconds. Secrets still has the ability to auto-shut down.  Some less concerned users did not like the idea that the application shut-down automatically, so they suggested a password lock-out type feature.  Because the changes were substantial, this is a major release and does does not entitle existing customers to a free upgrade.

  • Resolves the minimize error(384).  When the form was minimized a run time error occurred.  Now the form can be minimized without this issue.

 Fixes

  • If a password was entered and the Change Password checkbox was checked and a new password was entered then the Change Password checkbox was unchecked when logging in, the new password was saved.  This was very misleading because to the user un-checking the Change Password checkbox should mean do not change the existing password.  Now, if the user uncheck the Change Password checkbox the existing password does not get overwritten with the new password.
  • Also the About Box informs the user to send the liberation key to get the software code to unlock Secrets.  This is wrong and has been changed to send the Software Key Code to get the Liberation Key to unlock Secrets.  A minor issue but corrected.

 Enhancements

  • Included a backup data file feature.  The menu layout has changed to give access to the backup feature.  The menu use to have a Exit menu option at the top left corner.  It now has a File menu options with Backup Data and Exit sub menus.

 Enhancements

  • Made inserting and updating easier by automatically making the New and Update buttons change there default state.  This feature will eliminate the need to use the multi key combinations (Alt-N or Alt-U) or the mouse to update or insert a record. 
  • During an update if you decide to cancel the update by pressing the Esc key the text boxes now display the original contents they held before the update process began.
